Speech therapy is a specialty that aims to treat disorders of oral and written language, as well as those of verbal and non-verbal communication.
From the moment you notice a delay in your child's language development, you can bring your child for a speech therapy assessment.

evaluations and interventions 

Perform speech evaluations to detect/identify difficulties in children with voice disorders, language delays/disorders (both oral and written), speech disorders, and oropharyngeal function disorders

  • Language delay/disorder : Target difficulties in oral comprehension, oral expression (phonology, morphosyntax, content, use), written comprehension (reading), and written expression (writing).

Evaluations

  • Meeting with parents: gathering information about the child's development and issues.

  • Meetings with the child, administration of formal tests and informal activities.

  • Writing the speech therapy evaluation report.

  • Developing an intervention plan adapted to the child.

    • This intervention plan can be implemented during potential speech therapy follow-up or by other professionals (language rehabilitation specialists, special education teachers, etc.)

  • Meeting with parents: explaining the results, conclusions, recommendations, and intervention plan. Informational documents about language stimulation may be provided, as well as information about different strategies they can use to optimize communication.

If requested, it is also possible to receive services from an educational therapist after the speech therapy consultation.
